Yes when the super typhoon sisang hit us as we lost everything.. We were cooking the rice that we recovered from the tidal wave and it was already soaked so imagine us eating partly bad rice...

Hi Tey,
The Philippines is still mired in widespread poverty and hunger. You are indeed blessed not to experience this. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.

Oh no, this picture is heartbreaking but indeed happening so true.I have experience being hungry a few times, not because I don't have food to eat but because I was so lazy and occupied doing something and the feeling of being hungry is not good, you will be out of focus and will make you lifeless, how much more not to eat for a week.

Oh God I thank you for the giving us food to eat , shelter, and a responsible parents to raise me and my siblings.

Hi Yen,
Yes, that must be our attitude. We must thank God for all the blessings we receive from His hand. We must also be responsible enough not to unnecessarily starve ourselves. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.

I never experience poverty and hunger but there was one time as in literally na hunger, when I live in my half brothers family and his wife and I are very close. I was applying for teacing jobm and then the last money I had I used it to spend on something we need in the house. One day ang asawa andun nakatambay sa parents nya. tapos yung food namin dun kinukuha sa parents nya kasi nakadepende nga dun, ang mali ko lang pinagamit ko pera ko for some jollibee at lakwatsa namin dalawa. so super gutom na ako, kaya umiyak nalang ako sa kwarto kasi nahihiya akong pumunta sa kusina ng parents nya, dun kasi sila kumukuha ng pagkain. that was a lesson for me na to save something for me. sakit ng dibdib ko sa situation ko but that heloped me to learn how to save for myself, wag yung tulong ng tulong.

Hi Shy,
Yes, we must use wisdom in spending our money so that we will not go hungry ourselves. The solution there is to strictly budget our money so it will last to the limit. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.

when that time came that my Mama was deported from America. She was the breadwinner of our family, and there were no money left in their bank account. we were sad that we cant continue our education and the food we eat was dried fish, ginamos and rice. It was almost a year of suffering...hungry and thirsty also, because we just moved out to a bukid place where you have to go half a kilometer to fetch water in a pump and bring gallons of water home.

Hi Tocayo,
Yes, that was indeed a horrendous experience where you temporarily experienced both hunger and poverty. Glad that you were able to overcome that painful experience in your life. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.

I was reflecting on this last few weeks ago and I told my hubby that I haven't experienced being hungry and in dire poverty, sa awa nang Diyos. But I remember my mother told me that one time when we were young, my mama and papa don't have any money ( i think) to buy food. I think that was in the late 60's or early 70's but my mother was already a teacher at that time but I knew that time her salary is very low. So I remember my mama told me that because we don't have food my father went to the school garden and took some vegetables, we are allowed to have plots to put up our own vegetable garden, and I so remember that event, in my memory I saw my father at the school garden taking some vegetables I think kangkong ata yun. But never na pinadama nila noon na wala pa kaming kakainin? Baka na delayed lang talaga sweldo nang mama ko noon kay ganun hehe. That made us a lesson not to throw away left over food, kaya dito sa states aba ang daming left over food that many people just throw away, para sa akin huwag po!!!! ^_^

Hi Kim,
Yes, you are right. Statistics say that the amount of wasted food in the US and other developed countries are enough to feed all the hungry people in the world. I know you don't waste food Kim and I know where your heart is. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.

not to that extent, but lack of money, yes! this is really heart breaking. seeing people like this and seeing people with so much money, sometimes i can't help but ask --- why is this happening?

Mel Avila Alarilla said...

Hi sis Pia,
Yes, being without money is heartbreaking. We must not envy people with so much money for as the Bible says, they already have their reward here on earth. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.
