I don't know what to think about this kind of acts KUya, for me kasi you can repent with your sins naman without hurting your body. I dunno, I am not into physical kind of repentance.

Hi Rose,
Actually the church frowns on this kind of self punishment. You are right. We can repent without hurting our body physically. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.

mexico, philippines, and other countries exercise this kind of repentance. Tama si sisRose...there are many ways naman to ask God's forgiveness eh....yung iba kasi debosyon nila it every year.

hubby and I don't approve this kind of punishment.

Hi Dhemz,
Yes, we don't have to punish our bodies to merit forgiveness from God. We only have to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and savior and we are pardoned for our sins. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.

NO! i've already seen a lot of this because my mom is from pampanga. i don't believe that this could even lessen our sins. Jesus died on the cross for us, to pay for our sins. He did this because no one else is pure and sinless. if we can pay for our own sins, Jesus would not have done it for us.

again, tradition can't save us. flagellation is a form of tradition, a twisted one at that. so, no, even if we hurt ourselves every year, it won't do any good. because Jesus already did the ultimate sacrifice. all we need to do is ACCEPT it.

Hi sis Pia,
You said it so well. As a Christian, we know that self punishment will do us more harm than good because Jesus Christ already paid the full price for our sins. As you said, we only have to accept His offer of salvation. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.

No, Our body is God's temple we must take care of it, inflicting self pain and suffering to conform on the belief that you will be forgiven and purify from sin. Obedience is better than sacrifice.

Hi Yen,
I agree with you 100%. But there are those who wants to achieve salvation by their own means. They are pitifully misguided. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.

Some people doing this kind of act this days are just letting themselves payed by others who wants they sins to be forgiven. That is not allowed by God. According to the bible, priest spread the blood of the bull around the altar for repenting sins but God was not happy about that. Its not the bull who sinned but the people. So he sent plagues. Fasting is the allowed repenting way by God and the church this days. No more blood because Jesus's blood is much more precious than us so we should focus more on His passions for our sins to be forgiven.

I do respect other people's way of doing repentance but in my opinion, this kind of thing will not really save anybody who would still go back to their old ways and not change. I'm not being judgmental but any person can do this just to prove that they are repenting but after a while will still be her/his old self. For me, true repentance is trying hard not to repeat the same mistakes over and over and become an inspiration to others. But if people are doing this self flagellation and be born again with their ways, I would say that these people are really repenting. Just be true.

Hi Shynn,
I agree with you 100%. The true measure of sincere repentance is transformation wherein we renounce the old ways and become born again to a life dedicated to the Lord. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.
