Euthanasia (Mercy Killing)

Would you sanction euthanasia or mercy killing for patients who are in comma for a long period of time? Please explain your point of view.

Euthanasia literally means "Good Death" and I think in some situations, it is a good practice.

I have never been one to advocate keeping people alive artificially, it's not a religious issue that I have, I just don't like it.

I would chose euthanasia over letting one in this state "die naturally."

Hi Richie,
Yes, keeping a person in comatose and in a vegetable stage alive through life support system for an indefinite length of time is not only cruel but also very expensive for the family. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.

I'm on to that euthanasia than to see the person die suffering from too much pain. I know sometimes it's a case to case basis because some comatose patient still survive after years from being coma. I've seen one from the news; he was 18 years old when he got comatose because of a motorcycle accident. After 2 years being in a coma the family decided to remove his life support but when the doctor starts doing it he suddenly move his fingers. Then the doctor revived him and now he’s doing great. What a great miracle isn’t it?!

Hi Sam,
Many people who chose to pull the plug normally do it not just because of their love for their comatose patient but because they no longer have the money for the prolonged hospital services. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.
