Great question Mel. I have had no experiences and I'm not sure anyone has, but I believe it would be extremely egotistical to believe that we human mortals are the only intelligent beings in the whole universe.

I was asked this question by an atheist on my post about evolution. My explanation was as follows:
As a Christian, my belief that there are no other planets inhabited with intelligent life is based on my belief in God's redemptive plan as laid out in the Bible. This redemptive plan not only affects us individually but according to the Bible, all of His creation. In the bible, the stars, moon and stars were created light, time-keeping, navigation and of course for His glory.
So not believing in life on other planets is not a religious thing. It's whether or not you believe - There is a creator
Who created us in His image
That we failed Him in the beginning and we are all born to fail him (sin is the Christian word)
Because He loved us he sent His Son to live the life without failing
To die as the perfect sacrifice
To atone for our failures
And provide redemption by just believing in this grace
Not by any good acts I do on my own.

Yes, I respect your point of view and your exposition of your Christian beliefs. We have no quarrel with that. Since you skirted the issue, I surmise then that you subscribe to the Biblical concept of creation where there is no mention of other beings created by God except those He created to populate this world. Actually I'm pretty sure I've witnessed things outside the norm that can only be explained as "extraterrestrial" in nature. Was watching the sky one night with two very bright "stars" piled one on the other. After the longest time, the one on the top circled under the other (this was in a short period of time) and that jetted off into space. Can't explain it....
There have been numerous reports about the existence of extraterrestrials but no solid proof has been shown till today.
But then,just because we have not seen them does not necessarily mean they do not exist.We might be extraterrestrials to them! :)
