You were in a formal party with very famous and influential people. All of the guests including yourself were dressed to impress others. Beauty is attitude, ability to laugh, and being gracious. If I had a come apart because of spilled coffee then I would not look very pretty regardless of what my dress looked like.
And I am not very good at trying to impress people anyway.
Well of course, I'd be bummed but I would act graciously knowing that it's an accident and accidents happen.

Since it is accidental I would just leave at that. Because no matter what dress you've got it is the attitude and how you carry yourself that people appreciates. I may also gain friends because of my forgiving demeanor diba?
